The Seahawks are currently one of the two NFL teams without a head coach for the 2024-2025 season. A big reason for that may be because the coach they are looking for is still competing for the Lombardi Trophy. You may be thinking I'm talking about Ben Johnson. No. I am talking about Ravens DC Mike Macdonald.
Right now, the Seahawks are behind the Rams and 49ers in terms of winning the NFC West. However, a new head coach could absolutely change that. If the Seahawks hire a coach capable of keeping up with Shanahan and McVay, they could quickly become contenders for the NFC West title. Now, let's switch the subject to who I think should be the next Seahawks head coach, Mike Macdonald. Mike Macdonald has done a phenomenal job with the Ravens and has made their defense the best in the league. By far. Now, some of of you might say that the Ravens personnel is just so much better than the Seahawks. I'm here to tell you that's not true. Macdonald has made Jadeveon Clowney and Geno Stone look elite. Now, not to knock on those players, but without Macdonald, neither of them would have near the production they have right now. Imagine what Macdonald could do with the Seahawks defense in a year or two.
As I mentioned earlier, the Seahawks need a coach that can keep up with Shanahan and McVay. Mike Macdonald is that guy. During an earlier season game against the 49ers, the Ravens defense, under Macdonald, forced Purdy into the worst game of his career. If Macdonald could out-coach Shanahan and McVay on the defensive side of the ball, the Seahawks could go back into NFC West contention real fast.
