Richard Sherman is undoubtedly one of the greatest cornerbacks of all time and part of one of the greatest defenses to exist. A player like him is very rare to come by. But, this year, I believe the Seattle Seahawks have drafted the next Richard Sherman. His name is Tariq Woolen. Woolen stands at 6’4, which is very tall for a cornerback. The average height at his position is 5’11. To add on to this, Woolen ran a 4.26 40 yard dash, the 6th fastest of all time. He was selected at pick 153 in the NFL Draft. Woolen worked very hard during training camp, and earned himself a starting spot.During Week 2 against the 49ers, Tariq Woolen made his first big play. The 49ers were kicking a FG that would make the score 23-0. But, Tariq Woolen uses his speed to get around the edge and block the FG. Mike Jackson recovers it and runs it back for a touchdown. During Week 3 against the Atlanta Falcons, Tariq Woolen made another huge play. It was the last play of the half, and Mariota was scrambling out right. He throws the ball and Tariq Woolen is there for the interception. The following week, Week 4, Woolen makes an even bigger play. Coming out of the half, the Lions were down one possession and had the ball. On the first play of the half, they decide to pass. Tariq Woolen used his speed to get in a position to make a play, and he picked it off. He runs the ball back 40 yards for a Seahawks touchdown. This play completely changed the momentum of the game and the Seahawks ended up winning this game. So, mark my words, in a few years, Tariq Woolen will be a name that you remember.
